I am honored to announce that three of my underwater photographs are on display in the Exhibition of Photography at the 2009 San Diego County Fair.

Two of Derek’s photographs, Tropical Striped Triplefin and Portrait of a Garibaldi are featured in the 2008 Reef Check Annual Report.

I am honored to announce that my New Kelp photo was one of 72 entries accepted to the San Diego Natural History Museum’s 2009 Best of Nature Photography Show. More than 2,300 photos were submitted for consideration.

I will be offering a Fundamentals of Underwater Photography course at North County Scuba Center in Encinitas on February 28th from 10am to 4pm.

Derek’s photographs will be on display at the Civic Center Art Gallery in the Encinitas City Hall from January 30 until February 27, 2009, as part of the 2009 Civic Art Program.

Selected underwater photographs from the Solomon Islands and Southern California are now for sale at Scan Furniture House in San Diego.

The San Diego Underwater Photographic Society recently presented Derek with the 2008 Photographer of the Year award for his division.

I am proud to announce that two of my photographs are included in the new Southern California MPA Brochure produced by San Diego Coastkeeper. This brochure is part of Coastkeeper’s campaign to raise awareness about the importance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

Derek’s photograph of the Giant Brown Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) received an honorable mention in the 2008 California Coastal Commission Photo Contest.

The latest show of underwater photography by Derek Tarr will be on display at the Pannikin in Encinitas from September 1st to October 9th, 2008. Featured works will include photographs from the Solomon Islands and the Channel Islands in California.A reception will be held at the Pannikin on September 7th from 3 – 6pm.
